Former FC Barcelona manager Francesc Tito Vilanova was rushed to hospital on Thursday and on Friday, lost his battle against cancer (since 2011) at the age of 45.


FC Barcelona will open a space in the main grandstand at the Camp Nou for people to express their condolences, which will be open to anyone who wishes to express their sympathy and love for the late Tito Vilanova.


The Spaniard was Pep Guardiola's assistant during his time at Camp Nou. In the 2012/2013 season, Vilanova led Barcelona to the La Liga title in 2013. Moreover, under Vilanova, Barcelona finished second in the Super Cup. Unfortunately, his season was interrupted by his battle with cancer.

Both Vilanova and Eric Abidal fought cancer while one managed and the other played for Barca. Abidal said, “I always remember friend, RIP. Thanks for the fight. My love and support to his family.”
